About the Oregon Sinfonietta Concerto Competition

Each season the Oregon Sinfonietta offers three young area musicians the opportunity to perform a full concerto.

The Concerto Competition for our 2025-2026 season has ended. Congratulations to our winners:

Mia Hale will perform Ponchielli: Capriccio for Oboe and Orchestra on January 18, 2026.

Kaylee Nah will perform Sibelius: Violin Concerto on March 15, 2026.

Amir Avsker will perform Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat, K. 595 on May 17, 2026.

The Oregon Sinfonietta would like to thank the late Jerry Smith for his generous annual donation to help fund the Concerto Competition.

2026 – 2027 Season Audition and Concert Repertoire:

CLARINET — Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A Major K.622

January 24, 2027 concert

CELLO — Elgar: Cello Concerto in E Minor, Op. 85

March 21, 2027 concert

PIANO — Mendelssohn: Piano Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 25

May 23, 2027 concert

APPLICATION DEADLINE: October 3, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

AUDITIONS: October 10, 2026 at Clark College in Vancouver, WA. (Time TBA.)

Applicants must be no more than age 22 as of December 31, 2026.

PIANISTS are expected to have the FIRST MOVEMENT of the concerto memorized for the audition. The winner will be expected to prepare the ENTIRE CONCERTO for the May concert.

CLARINETISTS and CELLISTS must prepare the ENTIRE CONCERTO for the audition.

They are encouraged to have their work memorized, but it is not required.

All musicians are to audition without accompaniment.
