About the Oregon Sinfonietta Concerto Competition
Each season the Oregon Sinfonietta offers three young area musicians the opportunity to perform a full concerto. The winner in each category will be awarded $1,000, on the condition they perform with the orchestra at the concert.
The Concerto Competition for our 2023–2024 season has ended. Congratulations to our winners:
Ziqi (Kevin) He will perform Wagenseil’s Concerto for Trombone on January 21, 2024.
Erica Yang will perform Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy for Violin on March 17, 2024.
Hansen Berrett will perform Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major on May 19, 2024.

2024–2025 Season Audition and Concert Repertoire:
FLUTE — Reinecke: Concerto for Flute in D, op. 283
January 19, 2025 concert
CELLO — Lalo: Cello Concerto in D Minor
March 16, 2025 concert
PIANO — Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat, op. 73 (“Emperor”)
May 11, 2025 concert
APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 28, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
AUDITIONS: October 5, 2024 at Clark College in Vancouver, WA. (Time TBA.)
Applicants must be no more than age 22 as of December 31, 2024.
PIANISTS are expected to have the FIRST MOVEMENT of the concerto memorized for the audition. The winner will be expected to prepare the ENTIRE CONCERTO for the May concert.
FLUTISTS and CELLISTS must prepare the ENTIRE CONCERTO for the audition. They are encouraged to have their work memorized, but it is not required.
All musicians are to audition without accompaniment.
